IMiA History-ACUS 2005

CURRENT YEAR

  • Carnival. This season of Carnival was more eventful than most. Carnival Eve saw a deadly fire at the House of Flowers on Winding Row. Captain Wesley Hobart and Nicholas van Alikki engaged in a most spectacular duel on DeSilgue Lane. Wesson’s Pub was closed following a most bizarre and frightening series of events. Wesson’s re-opened before the end of Carnival. A mysterious young artist caused much sensation in the Merchant Quarter. After she was hassled by Captain Dane, scandalous caricatures of the captain were found throughout the quarter. They quickly became collector’s items. Carnival saw the arrival of the Frewin family and Detective Wrenn to the Eternal City. Patrice Pinegar, Rodrigo Diaz, Count of Oisenmouth, and Ethan the Toy Maker all returned to the Eternal City. The Duke and Duchess of Carlisle hosted a lavish dinner party that will be the talk of society for decades to come. The Duchess also hosted a spectacular party for the residents of Southside. Princess Florimel hosts the Royal Ball to end Carnival. Several notable persons left the Eternal City during Carnival. Sir Reginald Bayle, Lord Varien San Oceal, Major Cassandra Chantris, and Captain Dane all left the Eternal City during the month. Lord Varien is said to be attending to business at the family estate, but the whereabouts of Sir Reginald, Major Chantris, and Captian Dane remain unknown. Most troubling is the absence of King Oberon during Carnival. The King has not been seen in public since the festivities of Carnival Eve. (ACUS 2003 and 2004; and PbeM)
  • Problems continue with shipping throughout the Golden Circle. Several ships and their cargoes have been lost. The losses are blamed on everything from storms to pirates to sea monsters.
  • The bodies of the Count and Countess Meridien are discovered by their servants. It appears the Count murdered his wife and then took his own life.
  • Criminal activity in the Eternal City continues to increase. The streets of Southside are unsafe to travel at any time. The CrimeLords grow increasingly bold. Their agents war against themselves with little fear of repercussion. The death toll is rising. Recently, brothel owners appear to have been specifically targeted. There have been several notable recent deaths including that of Chastity, owner of the Unicorn Social Club. More such deaths are expected. The Watch appears unable or unwilling to rein in the rampant criminal activity.
  • Bishop Morgan DeChastellan is found dead in his private study. The funeral is a grand affair. A wake is held at the home of the Duke and Duchess of House Carlisle. (Game start)
