House Sabatini

In Amber, Earls do not usually own huge tracts of land like Dukes do. Their wealth and status comes from other sources.

House Sabatini is a very old, established, wealthy noble house. It's history goes back to the beginnings of the nobility in Amber. They are not renowned as a big military/naval family. In fact, they're almost famous for not being famous. They've been around forever, and their wealth has built up to the point where it's virtually self-sustaining. People in-the-know of other houses may idly wonder at house Sabatini's origins, and about what service they may have provided to the crown originally to be elevated to an earldom.

House Sabatini owns the second-largest fleet in Amber. (The largest fleet is the Royal Navy.) The Sabatini merchant fleet is ubiquitous in the Golden Circle, and even travels out around the edges of the Golden Circle.

Fionntán's father is the 124th Earl of the House, in an unbroken line of descent from the original Earl.

Fionntán is a widower, and there are of course the obligatory rumors that his wife was killed by foul play....
