Character Generation

Characters should be grandchildren of (an) Oberon who are present in his capital at the start of the campaign. Characters will be based on 200-250 points using a very-close variant of the ADRPG rules which allow for a few extra options.

What do we mean by 200-250 points?

We mean that you should make your character with 200 - 250 points. You can make a butt-kicking 250 point character, or you can use fewer points (yes, you can still specify bad stuff). If you don't use the full 250 points, during the course of the game the GMs will do their best to have to acquire items, followers, or other stuff in play. We encourage that, because there will probably be Pattern swords available.

Wait... Did you say Pattern swords?

Yes. Though in character creation we tend to limit artifacts to the 8-point level, e.g. Destructive Force weapons, Impervious Armor, etc. Check out the ADRPG book for examples.

Character Sheet

Back in the 20th century, when this game was first tested, people used paper to make characters. JP has created a horrible PDF version that it mostly faithful to the original. It's useful in a number of ways, especially in terms of tracking power levels and trumps. Check out A Simple Character Sheet for the New Courts

Extra Options

The universes are big, and there are seven of them at the start of this game. You've got a lot of room for creativity in defining your character. The character sheet has spaces where you can specify Psi powers, Major Powers, Shadow Powers, etc. Those are there for you to be creative in your character's backgrounds and abilities. You want to use The Force? You want to be a telekinetic juggler? It's worth a shot. Ask the GMs. Power level will be commensurate with points spent.

Extra Requirements

Plan on spending 6-10 points on shadows/allies as a good way to flesh out your character's background. If you don't think they'll turn up in play, the GMs might surprise you.

Restrictions

If you spend character points on constructs, you will regret it.
